Leaders in OSS Educational Software Market Join Forces

Blue Fountain Systems Limited and pteppic.net today announced a partnership agreement to deliver a cutting edge software solution for use in UK schools.

BFS has joined with pteppic.net, a key Moodle service provider, to develop a fully integrated e-learning web strategy.  The solution will include the e-communications infrastructure blueSchool from Blue Fountain combined with Moodle, the leading Open-Source Virtual Learning Environment to provide an e-mail, calendar, content management system that will allow the creation and delivery of high-quality online courses over the Internet or local networks.

Aidan McGuire from BFS said "Working with pteppic.net is a great opportunity for both companies who are recognised specialists in their fields to develop the kind of learning platform our children need for the 21st Century.  Currently schools teach pupils to be IT literate but this should go beyond just being able to use the leading word processor or make a computer presentation.  It is essential that schools commit to the next generation of software programmers.”

Sean Keogh from pteppic.net explained ""Moodle is taking the educational world by storm. Educational decision makers must recognise that Open Source products like Moodle can deliver commercial-grade features and performance while reducing costs and freeing up funds for important tasks like staff training.  We have to ensure that our schools can take advantage of this best of breed software, so that our learners and teachers do not fall behind in the race to develop Future Schools."

Some schools which do recognise the importance of Moodle can be found in a range of locations including South Wales, Lancashire and Cumbria.  CLEO (Cumbria and Lancashire edition on-line) is thought to be one of the biggest installations of Moodle in the UK with Moodle having been selected as the default Virtual Learning Environment for the two areas.
